Our Mission |
For many of us, it has been the life experiences of other families that have provided us with the greatest support, wisdom and practical information to better navigate the world of Cerebral Palsy.
CP Parent Columbus exists to bring individuals and families living with Cerebral Palsy together to share information and resources, personal experiences, advice and support.
Cerebral Palsy varies from person to person and affects a wide range of individuals and families. We encourage anyone living with CP to attend our meetings, regardless of the specific diagnosis, level of involvement, age, etc. We also welcome all professionals working with individuals and families living with CP.
RFTS Central Ohio Chapter
CP Parent Columbus is proud to be the NEW Central Ohio Chapter for Reaching for the Stars, A Foundation of Hope for Children with Cerebral Palsy. CP Parent Columbus is committed to improving the quality of life, care and treament options for individuals with cerebral palsy. This is why we have joined forces with Reaching for the Stars.
RFTS was started in late 2004 by Anna Marie Champion and Cynthia Frisina Gray, two mothers determined to go above and beyond what is currently possible to make a profound difference int he lives of their children and others, who suffer the negative physical, emotional and social impact of cerebral palsy. They saw the need that exists for more progressive research on the causes and possible cures and treatments for children with CP. They realized...If not us...then who?... and RFTS, Inc. was born.
RFTS Mission: Foster national CP research with the goal of expediting the creation of new medicines and effective treatments for children with cerebral palsy.
As the RFTS Central Ohio Chapter, CP Parent Columbus is the place where you will find:
Information and services specific to central Ohio provided through monthly meetings presented by dedicated parent and professional volunteers
Resources for parents of recently diagnosed children
Valuable peer support, comfort and companionship for all families managing the years of growth and change
Local grassroots advocacy organized to implement change where change is necessary
